Description
37, 38, and 39 St John Street are three houses, now functioning as two houses and an office, built around 1820. They are constructed of coursed squared stone with stucco gables and slate roofs, featuring single gable and ridge stone stacks along with a renewed brick ridge stack. The buildings have a plinth with two round-headed boot-scrapers, an eaves band, and projecting surrounds around the windows and doors. The structure is two storeys high and has a six-window range of 12-pane sash windows. On the left side, there are two round-arched doorcases with renewed six-panel doors and fanlights, each accompanied on the right by a 12-pane sash window. On the right side, there is a similar doorcase with a 20th-century flush door and fanlight, flanked on the left by a flat-headed entry opening and on the right by another 12-pane sash window.
