Description
No. 40 St John Street is a house that has been converted into an office and flat, dating from around 1820. It is built of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof with two gable stacks, one of which is rendered and taller than the other. The building has a plinth, an eaves band, and projecting window surrounds. It is two storeys high and has a three-window range of 12-pane sash windows. The central entrance is a round-arched painted stone doorcase with a keystone, leading to a 20th-century flush door with a fanlight above. On either side of the door, there are 12-pane sash windows, with the lower lights having been reglazed.
