Description
No. 41 St John Street is a chapel, now used as a furniture warehouse, built around 1830 with some alterations made in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and is designed in the Classical Revival style. It features a plinth, eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The structure has three storeys and five windows arranged in a pattern of 1:3:1. The projecting center has three 12-pane sash windows beneath a moulded pediment. Below these, there are three plain sash windows, and above them, three smaller late 20th-century transomed casements. On either side of the building, there are square porches with cornices and blocking courses, with the left porch being taller. Each porch has an Egyptian-style doorcase with a cornice and a four-panel double door. Above the right porch, there is a late 20th-century transomed casement. The right return of the building features a string course and a tall central opening, with three windows above.
