Description
Westgate House is a farmhouse dating from around 1700, with early 19th century alterations. It is constructed of pebble dashed brick and features a pantile roof with raised brick coped gables, along with one gable and one axial stack. The building has two storeys and a four-bay front, which includes a brick dentillated eaves course. The entrance is off centre and consists of a four-panelled 19th century door with a plain overlight, set within a wooden doorcase that has pilasters supporting a narrow moulded hood. To the left of the door is a single plain sash window, while to the right are two plain sashes, all featuring segmental heads. On the first floor, there are three additional plain sashes located beneath the eaves. In front of the house, there is an impressive early 19th century wrought iron gate and railings, which are decorated with crosses saltire.
