Description

The aqueduct over the River Erewash and under the Erewash Canal was built in 1779 by engineer John Varley. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar with sandstone dressings. The structure features three segmental arches, with a plain band and ashlar walls above. These walls serve as the sides of the Erewash Canal and extend to the water level of the canal.
