Description
The Rookery is a farmhouse that has been converted into an Old People's Home. It dates from the mid-18th century and is constructed of brick with a slate roof. The building features rebated and cogged eaves and coped gables, along with two gable stacks. It is three storeys high and has three bays, arranged in an L-plan.
The front of the building includes a central panelled door with an arcaded overlight and scrolled brackets supporting the hood. This door is flanked by single sash windows. Above the door, there are three sash windows, and on the top storey, there are three smaller casements. The north gable has a 20th-century casement window, and above to the right, there is a sash window with a segmental head alongside another casement. A 20th-century single-storey addition is located at the return angle, featuring a casement window. The south gable has mid and late 20th-century flat-roofed additions, including a bay window to the east, and above this, there is irregular fenestration with casements.
