Description

The Old Malthouse outbuilding and water pump is a house and outbuilding located on High Street in Everton. The house dates from the mid-18th century and early 19th century, while the outbuilding is from the 19th century. The structure is made of brick that has been colourwashed, topped with pantile roofs. The building features dentillated eaves at the rear, three gable stacks, and one ridge stack. It is two storeys high with six unequal bays, and the entrance is located at the rear.

The 18th-century part of the house, situated to the right, has a central 20th-century gabled brick and timber porch that contains a close-boarded door, flanked by single glazing bar sash windows. Above this porch, there are two glazing bar sashes with shutters. To the left is the 19th-century section of the house, which has a single bay lean-to extension. This extension features a three-light glazing bar casement and a stable door in the re-entrant angle. To the right of this section, there is a single glazing bar sash, and above it, two glazing bar casements and another single glazing bar sash.

The 19th-century outbuilding to the left is constructed of brick and has a hipped pantile roof, and it is a single storey in height. It is designed in an L-shape and has a close-boarded door with a segmental head at the east end. The rear elevations of the outbuilding have irregular 19th and 20th-century window arrangements, which include two malthouse ventilators. Outside, there is a 19th-century cast iron water pump, featuring a gadrooned cap and finial.
