Description
The building is a timber-framed house, dating from the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It incorporates and has been extended to engulf a former malthouse, resulting in an extensive and irregular structure. The original core is one storey and attic in height, with later additions rising to two storeys. A large, single-storey modern wing extends to the south. The roof is tiled, with brick dentil eaves on one section and four modern dormers with eaves-level sills above the oldest block. The exterior is red brick in English bond; one section is completely tile-hung, and a smaller section of the first floor also has tile hanging. Casement windows are present. A north-facing block from the 18th century retains two original sash windows and a doorway with a moulded canopy, architrave, and a six-panelled door. Other doors are plain, one having an old canopy. The malthouse section is topped by a tile-hung circular oast vent, now with a glazed conical roof.
