Description

No. 2 and No. 3 Main Street is a single cottage that has been converted into a pair of cottages. It dates from the mid-18th century, with a later 18th-century extension and 19th-century additions. The building is constructed of red brick and features a pantile roof that is hipped to the right, with a raised brick coped gable and a kneeler on the left. There are single red brick stacks on the left gable, a ridge stack, and a lateral stack on the right, with the ridge stack indicating the original extent of the cottage.

The eaves have a dentil, raised brick, and dogtooth band. The structure is two storeys high with five bays, including a first-floor band, with the rightmost bay being the later 18th-century extension. The central bay has a tripartite glazing bar casement, flanked by single gabled 19th-century porches featuring pointed arched entrances; the left porch has an inner plank door, while the right porch has a 20th-century door. On the ground floor, there are similar casements on both sides, all set under segmental arches. Above, there are two small tripartite glazing bar casements, a single glazing bar Yorkshire sash to the left, and another similar casement further left. At the rear, there are two-storey and lean-to extensions.
