Description
Bar Gate Farm House and Outbuildings is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century, with alterations and additions from the 18th and 19th centuries. The building is constructed of brick and features steep pitched and hipped pantile roofs. It has cogged and dentillated eaves, tumbled coped gables, a central ridge stack, and single stacks on the rear gable and rear wall. The structure is two storeys high plus garrets and is arranged in an L-plan.
The main south front has a central 19th-century reeded doorcase with a hood, flanked by plain sash windows. Above this, there is a central 20th-century casement window with a segmental head, also flanked by plain sashes. To the left, a rear addition features three 20th-century casements and a door. The west front has two glazing bar sashes on the left, with a 20th-century casement and a bow window on the right.
The stable to the north has a pair of central doors with a basket arched head on the west side, with a door to the left and a slatted opening beyond. To the right, there is a small door with a segmental head.
