Description

West End Farm House and Wash House is a farmhouse dating from the mid 18th century to the 19th century. It is built of brick and features a steeply pitched hipped slate roof that rises to a flat section. The building has a plinth, a first-floor band, and two ridge stacks. Most of the windows are 19th-century plain and margin light sashes. The structure is two storeys plus attics and has three bays, forming an L-plan.

The main south front has an off-centre Classical doorcase with a hood in the return angle, which contains a door and an overlight with margin panes. To the left of the door, there are two sashes, and to the right, there is a single sash. Above the door, there are three sashes, and above that, there is a 20th-century square dormer with three casements.

On the west front, there is a blocked opening to the left and a single sash to the right. Above this, there are two blocked openings. The north side features an off-centre Yorkshire sash, flanked on the left by a casement and on the right by a blocked opening. Above this, there are three glazing bar sashes and a blocked opening.

The east front has an attached 19th-century wash house, which is also made of brick and has a hipped pantile roof. This wash house is single storey and consists of a single bay. It has a large ridge stack, a casement window with a segmental head to the east, and a hatch to the north.
