Description

The Plough Inn, originally an inn and now a house, was built in 1821. It is constructed of brick, with a colourwashed exterior, and has a 20th-century hipped pantile roof. The building features dentillated eaves, a central ridge stack, three side wall stacks, a single rear wall stack, and a single corbelled corner stack. It is arranged over two storeys and comprises four bays, with an L-shaped plan.

The south front has a centrally positioned panelled door with an overlight and a keystone inscribed 'J K 1821'. To the left of the door are two plain sash windows with segmental heads and keystones, and to the right is a single similar window. Above the ground floor, there’s a wrought iron sign bracket and four identical sash windows. The west end has a 19th-century panelled door with a timber hood supported by brackets and suspension chains. A lower, two-storey rear wing features a casement window to the left and a door to the right. Above, a single Yorkshire sash window is present. The north gable has a round-headed casement window with Y tracery. A lean-to extension in the return angle contains a casement window to the left and a door to the right, both with segmental heads; above these are two casements.
