Description
Whinleys Farm House is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century to the 19th century. It is built of brick with a pantile roof and features a plinth, partly rendered surfaces, first and second floor bands, cogged eaves, and tumbled coped gables, along with four gable stacks. The building has three storeys and three bays, arranged in an L-plan.
The main west front includes a central flat-roofed timber porch with a lattice design, which contains a panelled door topped by a geometrical overlight. This porch is flanked by single windows with segmental heads. Above the porch, there are three windows with rubbed brick segmental heads, and above those, three smaller windows with similar heads. To the left, there is a 19th-century single bay lean-to addition with a pantile roof and an external corner stack. Next to it, there is a single light and a round-headed doorway. The north gable features a small glazing bar sash above, and each gable has two blocked openings with segmental heads above that.
At the rear, a 19th-century wing has a single casement and a Yorkshire sash with segmental heads on the south side, and above those, a small Yorkshire sash. The north side includes a lean-to addition with a single gable stack and an off-centre door, flanked to the right by two casements, all with segmental heads. To the left, there is a single 20th-century casement. The east gable has a single casement to the right and, above it, two small glazing bar lights.
