Description
The lych gate at the Church of St John the Baptist, built around 1897, is a timber-framed structure topped with a gabled tile roof and set on an ashlar plinth. Each side features three square posts with curved braces supporting a bressummer with moulded ends. The design includes moulded arched tie beams that carry king posts with curved braces, and scissor-braced rafters with a spine beam. The openings are filled with slatted panels, and there is a pair of slatted panel gates with a moulded top rail and posts adorned with scroll finials. To the left, there is a wicket gate styled similarly. Both gates are fitted with decorative hinges. Inside, there is a memorial brass dated 1897. This lych gate is included for its group value.
