Description
The Coach House at Welham Hall is a building dating from around 1815, originally serving as a coach house and now functioning as a dwelling and outbuildings. It is constructed of brick, which is stuccoed and colourwashed, and features hipped and gabled slate roofs. The building has a plinth, moulded eaves, and an eaves band, along with two ridge stacks.
This single-storey structure consists of five bays and has a square plan surrounding a courtyard. The main east front showcases a projecting central bay with a pediment, featuring an elliptical arched carriage entry that is adorned with wrought iron gates. To the left of this entry are two round-headed blank recesses, while to the right are two segmental-headed glazing bar sashes. Above the central bay is a moulded pediment, and above that sits a bell cupola with a panelled square base and an octagonal bell stage topped with an ogee domed cap and a wind vane.
The rear elevation includes two glazing bar sashes and two 20th-century casements. The buildings surrounding the courtyard have one coped gable with kneelers, three elliptical-headed openings, three doors, and two plain sashes. The property is enclosed by an ashlar coped brick boundary wall.
