Description

Welham Park House is a small country house built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and covered in stucco, topped with a hipped slate roof. The building features a plinth, deep bracketed eaves, and two roof stacks. It stands three storeys high and has a square plan with three bays.

The main west front includes a central porch supported by panelled square columns and antae on dice, which carries an entablature with a parapet. On either side of the porch are mid-19th century flat-roofed bay windows, each adorned with scrolled brackets on the cornices, featuring a pair of French windows and four flanking lights. Above these are three mullioned and transomed casements, with the outer pair having blind covers, and above them, three smaller similar casements.

To the left of the main front is a mid-19th century smoking room, also stuccoed, topped with a conical slate roof. This room has a single central mullioned and transomed bow window flanked by lights. The south side of the house has a full-width lean-to extension, also stuccoed, with a hipped slate roof. To the left of this extension is a large rounded bay window with central half-glazed doors, four flanking lights, and overlights. To the right is a full-height mullioned and transomed casement, with two similar smaller casements on each floor above.

On the north side, there is a single casement window, with four blocked openings above. The rear elevation features a single-storey scullery to the right, which is a single bay, stuccoed, with a slate roof, a panelled door, and a single casement. The main rear wall has two mullioned and transomed casements and a central stair light between floors, with two casements above and a blocked opening to the left, along with another single casement.
