Description
This building is a house located at 215 Mansfield Road in Ashfield, dating from the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar, featuring ashlar dressings, and has a slate roof with ashlar coped gables, two gable stacks, and a single stack at the rear. The house is three bays wide and two storeys tall.
The west front has a central doorway that features a painted ashlar surround with pilasters and an entablature hood, along with a four-panel door topped by an overlight. On either side of the doorway are single plain sash windows with plain raised surrounds, and above them are three similar plain sashes. A moulded eaves band runs along the top.
At the rear, there is a doorway in a flush ashlar surround with a four-panel door. To the left of this door is a glazing bar sash window, and above it is a plain sash. To the right, there is a tall stair window with glazing bars. Inside, the property features a single flight return stick baluster staircase and two late 19th-century marble fireplaces.
