Description

The lychgate and wall at Old Church House, built in 1862 by J. Croft of Islington, originally served as a lychgate but now functions as a gateway and wall. Constructed from ashlar and rockfaced limestone, it features a plain tile roof with a shaped timber bargeboard. The central pointed archway is adorned with decorative motifs on the voussoirs and is flanked by battered buttresses that support capitals with floral decoration. On either side of the archway are square pinnacles topped with facetted knops. The low rockfaced churchyard wall includes battered piers with carved octofoil caps, and plain gabled pinnacles are positioned at the corners. Between the piers, there are plain iron railings.
