Description
A bomb testing building dating to the early 1950s.
PLAN: the building has an overall inverted T-plan footprint and is orientated north west-south east. There are narrower entrance bays at either end and a projecting wing to the north-east side.
MATERIALS: the building is constructed with reinforced concrete frame and roof with breeze block infill.
DESCRIPTION: the building is tall with a single storey and it has a flat roof. There are large entrances into the entrance bays at either end with timber horizontal roller doors. Beyond these via further roller doors is the large testing area which formerly contained X-ray equipment and is now used for storage. The ventilation and plant room is located to the north east side of the building.
