Description
The former RAF Faldingworth atomic bomb store, known as the D1 preparation building, was constructed in the late 1950s. It features a mounded weapon preparation area, with the structure primarily made of reinforced concrete set within an earthen mound. The building has an irregular plan shape due to the mound.
The only visible part of the building is the entrance, which consists of a large double leaf steel door with a wicket. Inside, the building has a full-height interior with painted concrete walls, and the reinforced concrete frame is exposed.
