Description

A group of seven headstones is located 1 metre east of the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Belton. These headstones date from the early, mid, and late 18th century and are made of limestone. The rear row, which is closer to the church, features on the left an arch-topped stone with cross bones dedicated to Thomas Tingle, dated 1703/04. To its right are two small segment-arched stones with scrollwork and illegible inscriptions. Further right is a larger segment-headed stone with scrollwork and a round-arched panel, also with an illegible inscription.

In the front row, on the left, there is a small stone with a broken segmental pediment and a skull, and to the right, a segment-headed stone adorned with an ornament of leaves. Further right is a much larger stone with a shouldered arch top and an incised urn, dating from the late 18th century. None of the headstones has a legible date or inscription.
