Description
No. 87 Eastgate is a house dating from the early 18th century that was refronted in 1819. It is constructed from coursed and banded limestone rubble, with ashlar quoins and dressings, and features a slate roof with two gable stacks. The building has two storeys and a four-bay front. The entrance is off-centre and features a 20th-century door with a gabled hood. To the left of the door is a single three-light plain sash window, and to the right are two three-light plain sash windows. On the first floor, there are four similar windows aligned with the eaves. The lower windows have ashlar lintels with stepped keyblocks. Between the second and third windows, there is a square panel with a cornice inscribed "JWM 1819," likely marking the year of the refronting.
