Description
Priory Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble, with ashlar quoins and dressings. The roof is slate, featuring raised stone coped gables and yellow brick gable stacks. The house is arranged on an E-plan with a 5-bay front, where the outer bays are advanced and gabled. The central doorway has an original studded door, set within an advanced 2-storey gabled porch. The porch has a moulded semi-circular headed outer arch with moulded imposts and hood, flanked by single 3-light windows. Further single 3-light windows are found in the side walls, with one on the left being blocked. The first floor has a central 2-light window, flanked by single 3-light windows, with similar windows in the side walls. A 3-light window is located in the left gable and a single light in the right gable. All windows have ovolo moulded mullions, stone surrounds, and cornices. A 3-light bow window with a Gothick frieze is present in the front of the right-hand side. The interior retains a contemporary dogleg staircase with turned balusters, a moulded handrail, and newels.
