Description

The Boathouse, located to the rear of No. 2, dates to the late 17th century with later 18th-century alterations. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, and has a collyweston slate roof. The building is two storeys high plus a garret. The south gable front features a large ground-floor opening designed for boat access, topped with a wooden lintel. Above this is a two-light casement window. The east front has a triangular lancet window to the south, and above, two shuttered two-light openings. A flight of wooden steps leads to a first-floor doorway with a half-glazed door on the north gable wall; a tiny shuttered light is above. The west front includes two ground-floor plank doors and two shuttered two-light openings above. The building is situated separately from No. 2 Eastgate which is not listed.
