Description

Dovecote Cottage, The Bungalow, and the crew yards at Home Farm is a farmworker's cottage and pigeoncote that has been converted into a house, loose boxes, beast houses, and crew yards. It dates from the early 19th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins, red brick, and slate roofs, some of which are hipped. The end ranges feature raised stone coped gables and a single ashlar ridge stack.

The central section is a two-storey squared pigeoncote flanked by single-storey ranges on either side, with end ranges set at right angles. In front of the house are two square, free-standing loose boxes. Each end has a crew yard. The pigeoncote has a hipped slate roof with a single brick wall stack and a louvred cupola topped with a weather vane. The windows have been replaced in the 20th century.

In front, the two loose boxes have hipped slate roofs and single stable doors with louvred windows on the side walls. To the left, there is a crew yard with an open-sided range and a brick wall across the front, featuring double planked gates. To the right is a single-storey farmworker's house with two-light glazing bar windows and planked doors.
