Description

The Crew Yards at Home Farm are two early 19th-century crew yards featuring waggon hovels, beast houses, stables, and loose boxes. They are constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and red brick, topped with slate roofs that have stone coped gables. The buildings are single storey and arranged around two square yards, with ranges on three sides that culminate in four stone gables. The central pair of gables includes a central slatted doorway with a segmental stone lintel above. The central ranges of loose boxes are made of brick, while the waggon hovels on the sides are supported by timber on steddle stones. Additionally, there is a cast iron water tank dated 1840 located adjacent to the crew yard.
