Description

The Pigeoncote and attached range of stabling, cowhouses, and barn at Pond Farm is a collection of agricultural buildings dating from the late 18th century, mid and late 19th century, and 20th century. The structures are primarily constructed of red brick with some parts featuring a rubble plinth, and they are topped with pantile roofs.

The late 18th century stable includes a pigeoncote above it and features dogtooth eaves. It is two storeys high and consists of three bays. The central doorway has a stable door set under a segmental arch, flanked by single openings that have slatted wooden panels. Above these openings, on the left and right, are rows of entrances for pigeons with wooden platforms beneath.

To the left, there is a mid-19th century single-storey, single-bay outbuilding with dentil eaves and a doorway featuring a wooden plank door. To the right, set back, is a single-storey, single-bay 18th century cowhouse with dogtooth eaves and a doorway with a stable door under a segmental arch. Attached to this cowhouse is a lower 18th century single bay with a single opening that has a slatted wooden panel.

Further to the right, curving around, is a four-bay single-storey late 19th century stable range. This range has, from left to right, a single opening with a slatted wooden panel, a doorway with a stable door, and another similar opening, all under segmental arches. There is also a large opening under a flat arch on the far right.

Projecting from the right is a two-storey 19th century barn with a large blocked doorway, and there is a corrugated cover extending from the barn. A 20th century wall runs from this barn to the left of the pigeoncote, creating a crewyard. The site is included for its group value.
