Description
Whitehouse Farmhouse and the attached barn are located on Church Street in East Markham. The farmhouse dates from the late 18th century, while the barn is from the 19th century. The house features colour washed cement render over red brick and has a pantile roof with two gable stacks; the right stack is rendered and the left is red brick. It is two storeys high with four bays. The entrance has a 20th-century glazed door, and to the left is a single glazing bar Yorkshire sash window, with two similar sashes to the right. All ground floor sashes are set under cambered arches, and there are three similar sashes above. A lean-to extension is present at the rear.
The attached barn to the left is lower and constructed of red brick with a pantile roof, featuring dentil eaves. It is also two storeys high and has three bays. There are two doorways with arched plank doors and ashlar hinge blocks under arches. To the right, there is a single wooden slatted opening under a segmental arch, and to the left, there are two slit ventilators. Above, there are two doorways with plank doors and a single central lozenge pattern ventilator, along with a lean-to on the left side.
