Description
The Manor is a house dating from the mid-17th century, with a date of 1703, and features later 18th-century and 20th-century extensions and alterations. It is constructed of red brick and rubble, topped with pantile roofs. The north front has a single central ridge stack made of red brick and raised gables, which are coped with slate on the right and tiles on the left, featuring kneelers. The building has a deep chamfered coursed rubble plinth and consists of two storeys plus a basement and garret, arranged in five bays with an L-plan and later additions. There is a first-floor band, and on the left side of the basement, there is a single window opening. The central doorway features a six-fielded panel door with a moulded wooden frame, flanked by two casements with lead glazing bars. Above these are five similar smaller casements, all set under segmental arches. The west front has altered openings, while the east front also has altered openings and includes an 18th-century projecting gabled wing along with various later infill extensions, one of which is dated 1703. The Manor is said to be located on the site of the house of the Markham family. Inside, there is a room on the west side that may contain a 16th-century beam.
