Description

This building is a pair of estate cottages located at 2 Casewick Lane and 75 Main Street, dating from around 1840. The cottages are constructed of coursed and banded limestone rubble, with ashlar quoins and dressings. They feature a Collyweston slate roof with plain kneelers and ball finials on the gables, as well as two ridge stacks with plinths and dentillated cornices.

The cottages are two stories high with a three-bay front. The eaves and verges are stepped, and two of the bays are gabled, with the right-hand bay being advanced. There is an off-centre planked door with Gothic door furniture, set in a chamfered ashlar surround, and flanked by low walls with sloping tops that lead to a now-vanished wooden porch. To the right of the door, there is a three-light window and a single-light window, while the first floor has a pair of two-light windows. All windows are adorned with chamfered ashlar surrounds and mullions.

In the right-hand gable, there is a square-recessed panel in a chamfered surround, featuring a terracotta plaque that bears the arms of the Earls of Lindsey. The main road front consists of three bays, with a planked door sheltered by a tall gabled porch supported by curved wooden braces on brackets, which spring from sloping stone-coped side walls. To the right, there are single three-light and two-light windows. The first floor has a single two-light window, with a plaque above that matches the one on the side. All windows again have chamfered surrounds and mullions.
