Description
A pair of estate cottages dating from around 1840. Constructed from coursed and banded limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, the roofs are covered in Collyweston slate and feature gable ball pinnacles. A large central ridge stack has a plinth and dentilated cornice. The cottages are two storeys high and have a four-bay front, with the central first-floor bays grouped under a common gable. The front includes two off-centre planked doors, each within a plain chamfered surround and sheltered by tall, steeply gabled porches. The porches have curved wooden braces supported by brackets which rise from sloping stone coped side walls. At the centre of the ground floor are two three-light windows. The first floor has two two-light windows. All windows are set within chamfered ashlar surrounds with mullions. A square, recessed panel within a chamfered surround in the gable displays a terracotta plaque bearing the arms of the Earl of Lindsey.
