Description
Number 20 on St Mary's Street is a building dating back to the 13th century and earlier, with significant features from 1671. It has three storeys and attics, with the upper two storeys covered in stucco and the ground floor made of coursed stone and rubble. The roof is an old slate design featuring two gabled dormers. The top storey includes two windows with hung sashes set in plain reveals, each with slightly segmental arches. The second floor has one window framed in a small stone surround with a keystone, along with a two-storey bay window that has three lights and glazing bars. The entrance features a six-panelled door topped by a rectangular glazed fanlight under a keystone. An early 19th-century porch in the Greek Doric style, complete with an open pediment adorned with fleur-de-lys ornament, enhances the entrance. This building is part of a group that includes numbers 2 to 26 on the same street.
