Description

St Mary’s Rectory is a low, two-storey building dating to 1671. It is constructed of coursed rubble and has a roof of old slates. The building incorporates elements of earlier masonry from the 12th to 15th centuries, including a small window. A smaller hipped gable from the 17th century is also present. The left-hand gable is steep and features a window with glazing bars under a stone flat arch. A low doorway is defined by a relieving arch. A small window with glazing bars is positioned centrally on the first floor. The right-hand gable has a hipped semi-dormer window with glazing bars. The ground floor has two windows with glazing bars, stone arches and hung sashes. An 18th-century stone surround with a keystone frames a partially glazed 19th-century door. An inset foot scraper is visible. The building is part of a group with numbers 27 to 40.
