Description

Baldock's Mill is a building located at 21 South Street, dating from the early to mid 19th century. The right-hand section is a house attached to the mill, constructed of coursed rubble with rusticated quoins and brick at the rear. It features a stone slate roof and an eaves cornice, along with a single brick chimney. This two-storey section has two windows under the eaves, which are sliding sashes with segmental arches and stone cills. The first floor has two-light windows, while the ground floor has three-light windows. The entrance is a four-panel door with a segmental arch, brick voussoirs, and a small rectangular fanlight.

The middle section, which serves as the mill premises, is likely from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It stands three storeys tall and has a modern cement tile roof. This section includes two windows with slightly segmented carved lintels and a keystone, as well as a rusticated architrave for the door on the ground floor and a storage door on the first floor. The middle section also features rusticated quoins and is set back slightly from the house.

The left-hand section, used for storage, is two storeys high and constructed of brick with a stone slate roof. It has two windows with flat arches and keystones. One ground floor entrance, which has a flat wood lintel, is blocked, while the other entrance features a flat stone lintel. The rear of this section is made of coursed rubble.
