Description

29 South Street is a small, two-story house constructed in the early to mid-19th century, appearing as a miniature “Gothic” castle. The exterior is rendered in stucco over brickwork and features pilasters rising to corner turrets. A decorative band runs along the cornice. The windows are lancet-style, with leaded tracery, consisting of one or two lights; those on the side elevation have a moulded drip mould. A band separates the two storeys. The front door is panelled with five panels, also under a drip mould, and is flanked by small windows with leaded glazing bars. A two-story extension is present at the rear. A brick side wall is embattled and there is an embattled wall facing the road. The original lead roof was replaced with corrugated iron during World War II. The building is in need of repair.
