Description
38 St Peter's Street is a building dating from 1671, with a front that likely hides its late 16th-century origins. It stands two storeys high with attics and is cement rendered. The building features a high mansard roof covered in stone slates, which includes three dormers. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars. There is a high plinth, and two canted shallow two-storey stone bays, each with three lights and double-hung sashes with glazing bars on each face. The central door is recessed and has six moulded panels, topped with a 'Gothic' glazed rectangular fanlight and a stone surround. Access is via two curved steps. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 26 to 38 St Peter's Street, a wall in the yard abutting No 33, and Stahling to the rear of No 37, as well as Nos 33 to 38 and No 7 St Peter's Hill.
