Description
The Gables is a building with origins dating back to the 16th century. It is constructed from stone and timber, featuring a combination of painted and rough rendered surfaces. The building stands two storeys high with attics and has a modern asbestos tile roof.
The front of the building has three gables facing the road, each adorned with a two-light casement window that includes glazing bars set in a flush frame, along with a moulded cornice. There is a boxed roof cornice above. On the first floor, there are three windows with plain architraves, which are double-hung sashes also featuring glazing bars. The ground floor has two additional windows. The building has a plinth and three steps leading up to a pilastered doorcase, which has paterae beneath a plain hood. The entrance features a six-panel door with a glazed fanlight above. To the right, there is a garden door that is part-glazed, set within a plain architrave and topped with a small hood supported on consoles.
The Gables is part of a group that includes Nos 47 to 61 (odd).
