Description
Nos 55 and 57 on Bath Street are a building with origins in the 18th century that was remodeled in the 19th century. It is timber framed and has a rough rendered exterior with a tiled roof. The building stands three storeys high and features two gables facing the road, both adorned with carved bargeboarding. A central brick chimney is present.
On the upper floors, there are two windows with two-light casements set in a flush frame, which include dripmoulds that were likely added in the 19th century, along with marginal glazing. A brick band runs between the ground and first floors. The ground floor is finished in restored random rubble and has two windows with casements set in a red brick rusticated architrave, featuring a segmental arch.
The entrance includes a panelled door with a rectangular fanlight above it, leading to a gabled porch that has a tiled roof, carved bargeboarding, and trellis work. Nos 47 to 61 (odd) form a group with this building.
