Description

A pair of estate cottages, now houses, dating from the mid-19th century with alterations made in the mid-20th century. They were built to provide homes for workers on the Belton estate by the Brownlow family of Belton House. The cottages are constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and have slate roofs. They are in a Tudor Revival style and feature coped gables with kneelers. The properties are two storeys high, with three bays each. The windows are mainly 19th-century casements with mullions and cast-iron lattice glazing bars. The central gable projects and features a three-light window with a projecting surround, corbels, and a hipped stone roof. Below it are two 20th-century two-light casements. Slated verandahs on square wooden posts cover the three-light windows with projecting surrounds on either side. Each gable also has a three-light window with a projecting surround and a hip roof, with a three-light cross casement below, set within a brick flat arch.
