Description
The Green School is a former school and playgroup centre built in 1851. It features squared coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, and a Collyweston slate roof adorned with crested ridge tiles, raised stone coped gables, and kneelers, along with two external gable stacks. The building is designed in an L-plan and is a single storey with a three bay front, where each bay has its own gable topped with fleur de lys finials. The central bay contains a two light window set in a moulded and trefoil headed cusped surround, which is framed by a moulded rectangular frame with a hood mould. This is flanked by single three light stone mullioned and transomed windows. Above the central windows, a square panel indicates the construction date of 1851, and the gable features a pierced trilobe.
