MARKET DEEPING CHURCH STREET (west side) The Green School

(Formerly listed as Greens School)

Former school, playgroup centre at time of listing. 1851. Squared coursed limestone rubble, ashlar quoins and dressings, Collyweston slate roof having crested ridge tiles, raised stone coped gables and kneelers, and two external gable stacks. L-plan. Single storey, three bay front, the bays being separately gabled with fleur de lys finials. Central two light window in a moulded and trefoil headed cusped surround, set in a moulded rectangular frame with hood mould, flanked by single three light stone mullioned and transomed windows. Above the central windows a square panel records the construction date of 1851 and to the gable is a pierced trilobe.
