Description
St George's Rectory, built in 1888, is a two-storey building with attics, constructed from ashlar stone. It features a roof made of stone slates. The central section of the building projects forward and has a gabled design, with a two-light attic window situated above a two-light window on the first floor. The entrance consists of a six-panel door flanked by two narrow lights, topped with a rectangular fanlight set within a segmental headed architrave. The windows and door are set in chamfered reveals and are accessed via four steps. A moulded string course runs between the storeys and continues to the flanking sections, which each have two three-light windows above two six-light windows. The building stands on a plinth made of coursed rubble, which includes basement windows and doors. There are two stone stacks at the gable ends. The property is complemented by four gate piers with pyramidal caps and stopped chamfer carving, along with iron railings, standards, and half-standards.
St George's Rectory is part of a group that includes the Church of St George, Nos 1 to 7 (consecutive), Nos 9 to 12 (consecutive), an outbuilding to No 12, and Nos 14 to 22 (consecutive).
