Description
Nos 2 to 4 St George's Square are cottages built in 1671, located on the north side of the square. They are constructed from coursed rubble and feature a single roof covered with stone slates. The front elevation dates from the third quarter of the 18th century and includes four hipped dormers with modern casements. The cottages are two storeys high and have two brick stacks. There are four windows with stone surrounds and triple keystones, featuring sashes with glazing bars. The door to No 2 has six panels and two glass panes, topped by a rectangular wooden hood with a moulded cornice and soffit, along with a foot scraper. Nos 3 and 4 have similar doors, though slightly smaller, and are positioned together in the center of the block, aligned with No 2. There is also a dilapidated plaque for the Royal Exchange, numbered 89323, dated 1st April 1784.
These cottages are part of a group that includes the Church of St George and other consecutive properties on St George's Square and St Mary's Street.
