Description
The West Lighthouse on the bank of the River Nene is a building that has been converted into a house. It was constructed in the early 19th century and features colourwashed rendered brick. The lighthouse has a rounded lead roof topped with a single central octagonal stack. There is a band at the second floor, and the lantern is highlighted by a deep moulded brick band at the third floor. The structure consists of three storeys plus the octagonal lantern.
On the north and south sides, there are three segmental arched glazing bar sash windows, arranged one over the other. The northwest side includes a segmental arched doorway with a plank door, while the west side has single blocked windows on both the first and second floors. The east side has 19th and 20th century extensions at the ground floor. The first and second floors also feature single segmental arched glazing bar sashes. The lantern has eight circular openings, all of which are blind except for the single openings on the south and north sides.
