Description

The War Memorial in Metheringham was erected in 1919. It features a statue of an infantryman made from Portland stone, depicted with a bowed head and resting his hands on the butt of an upturned rifle. The statue stands on a polished granite plinth, which is inscribed with the words: "To the Glory of God and in Memory of the Men of Metheringham who fell in the Great War 1914-18. They died that we might live. Also 1939-45."
