Description
Number 17 Market Place is an early 19th century building that stands three storeys tall and is constructed of ashlar stone. The front of the building is well-proportioned, featuring a moulded eaves cornice and a parapet. There is a moulded band that runs between the first and top floors, and the corners of the building are accentuated with rusticated quoins. The façade includes three widely spaced windows, each with moulded stone surrounds and decorative paterae at the top corners. These windows are hung sashes with glazing bars. The ground floor has a modern shop front. Number 17 and the British Arcade are part of a group of buildings of architectural significance.
