Description
10 Market Place is an early 19th-century building that has a cement-rendered three-storey front added to an earlier structure. It features rusticated quoins on the left side and a moulded wooden eaves cornice. The building has a double-span slate roof with red brick chimney stacks. There are four windows with moulded stone surrounds and a band between the ground and first floors, all fitted with hung sashes that have glazing bars. The ground floor, dating from the mid-19th century, is made of stone and consists of five arcaded bays with central double doors and a stone plinth. A painted date of 1636 is visible on the quoin at the side, although it was not visible at the time of the survey. The rear of the building is constructed of coursed stone and was derelict at the time of the survey. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 7 to 12, the Parish Church of St Denys, the Vicarage, the Lock-up, and the War memorial.
