Description

The former office building, located in the center of a yard that was previously occupied by Hubbard and Phillips Limited, is a small mid-19th century structure designed in the Tudor style. It is two storeys high and constructed from coursed stone with weathered ashlar dressings. The building features a double span Welsh slate roof adorned with hexagonal stone chimneys that have cornices. Recently, the building has been repointed.

On the first floor, there are two windows situated under gables, each with rectangular dripmoulds, and two arched lights with glazing bars. Above the arched doorway, there is a small square opening with a segmental dripmould and a wooden door, along with a plaque above it. The ground floor includes one window with five lights, where the two outer lights are blocked, while the central light is an opening casement with a rectangular dripmould. To the right, there is another window with three lights under a similar rectangular dripmould.

At the rear, the roof covers a section that has a later 19th-century appearance in red brick, which has been partially repaired. This section features sliding and hung sash windows with glazing bars. Above the main doorway, there is a stone plaque that is believed to display the arms of the Sleaford Navigation Company, which are supported by a coal-miner and an agricultural worker. These arms are said to have been designed by Sir Joseph Banks. The building is historically significant as it is believed to have served as the offices of the Sleaford Navigation Company, which is why it has been included in the heritage register.
