Description
Number 9 Beaumont Street is a building dating from around 1860. It stands three storeys tall and features three windows. The exterior is made of ashlar stone, with pilaster strips flanking the eaves cornice. The roof is hipped and topped with tall chimneys that have modillion capping. The second floor has casement windows, while the first floor has sash windows with glazing bars in the upper lights. The first and second floors are connected vertically by eared architraves that include inter-storey panels. The central window is topped with a segmental pediment above a cornice. The ground floor has an arcade of four shop windows, separated by a central doorcase that features clustered shafts, decorated spandrels, and keys to the arches. Number 9 also extends into St Mary's Wynd, where it has two large warehouse openings.
This building is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 9 Beaumont Street, The Queen's Hall, Town Hall Buildings, and The Trinity Methodist Church and Church Hall, all of which are of local interest.
