Description
Rowston Manor is a house built in 1741, with additions made in 1985. It features coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and has a slate roof with ashlar coped gables and two brick gable stacks. The building has flush ashlar quoins and a moulded wooden cornice. It is two storeys tall plus an attic and has seven bays. The central doorway has an 8-panel door and a segmental hood supported by moulded brackets. On either side of the door are three flush glazing bar sash windows with ashlar wedge lintels, and above these are seven similar windows. There are also three dormer windows above, each with a 2-light casement. Two lead rain-water hoppers, embossed with a lion and dated 1741, are present. Inside, there is a contemporary single flight and half return staircase with a straight moulded string, thin bulbous balusters, and a moulded handrail. The ground floor contains two fully panelled rooms, one of which has a pine fireplace, while the upper floor has two partially panelled rooms.
