Description
9 and 10 Bailgate is a house that has been converted into a house and two shops. The building dates from the late 17th century and mid 18th century, with shopfronts added in the late 19th century and mid 20th century. It features timber framing and brick construction, topped with a plain tile roof and has a single gable and side wall stacks. The structure is two storeys high, plus attics, and consists of four bays.
The front of the building includes, on the left, a 20th-century shop window and glazed door. To the right, there is a late 19th-century shopfront with an off-centre recessed glazed door and overlight, flanked by single shop windows that have wooden mullions and top lights. Above the shopfronts, there are four 19th-century plain sash windows, and above those, two segment-headed dormers with small glazing bar sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
